When Adobe Books’ landlord raised the 25-year-old bookshop’s rent from $4,500 to $6,000 last spring, the shop and the community it serves rallied for its future. Authors Stephen Elliott, Rebecca Solnit, Michelle Tea, and musicians The Dodos held in-store fundraisers that saw overflow crowds…
Surprise surprise. The alleged Blac Bloc members arrested on suspicion of rioting in the Financial District are mostly from outside San Francisco. Only one of the 20 caught is from SF while the others are from the East Bay, SoCal and Mt. Shasta.
Cops think these same guys vandalized the Mission District in September and April. During those sprees the wanna-be revolutionaries fucked up small businesses while cops just monitored their tantrum. Just wondering, why did the cops arrest them when they were wrecking havoc in the corporate area of SF but not when they were smashing the property of independent merchants?
What’s a good way to protest class inequality? Storm tourist-clogged, Union Square and loot H&M? Naw. Riot on Valencia Street where the art galleries, coffee shops, taquerias and mom and pop stores are instead. Fuck up all those small businesses and rough up some innocent bystanders too. It’s OK it’s all for the 99 percent.
Way to go SFPD for showing restraint on the blac block. One witness said the cops practically escorted the group as they rampaged. To be safe, the cops guarded their station but didn’t guard the stores. Sounds kinda suspicious to some huh?
Here’s a way to help the vandalized merchants.
